"Folk Standard. Strong folk song. The full arsenal was employed here to bring a good sounding folk song. From the banjo to the sliding sounds of the guitar to the harmonica, this song feels like a folk standard. However, I felt its strength to be found in its subject matter. Folk music is deeply entrenched in the goings on of the times and I appreciate that this song didn't try to reach backwards and write about old folk ideas or topics; but rather, it did what the best folk songs always do by bringing up issues that are being faced in rural places currently (methamphetamines, dwindling economies) One is reminded of Guthrie and his songs about the dust bowl...The vocal melody was strong, particulary at the end with the addition of the lower singing. The rhythm of the song was persistent, not always easy to do without percussion. The bass line was excellent, sliding in perfectly between the banjo and the guitar. My only constructive thought would be to add more later on in the song towards the latter half things seemed to get a little repetitive. Great song."
